Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Back To Base (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses, and protects your personal data when you visit https://backtobase.tech, sign up for our newsletter, or place an order in our webshop. If you have any questions about this policy or your data, contact us at info@backtobase.tech.

Who we are

Our website address is: https://backtobase.tech. You can reach us at info@backtobase.tech.

Our website lets you browse the site, sign up for our newsletter, and buy products through our webshop. We do not offer user accounts, comments, or image uploads.

What data we collect and why

We only collect personal data for three things: understanding how the site is used (analytics), sending our newsletter (if you sign up), and processing your orders (if you buy something).

Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use our website — which pages are viewed, how long visitors stay, and the general region they’re browsing from. This helps us improve the site.

Google Analytics sets cookies and may process technical information such as your IP address, device, and browser. We have IP anonymization enabled where applicable, and we do not use this data to personally identify individual visitors. The data is processed by Google on our behalf; for details, see https://policies.google.com/privacy.

Analytics cookies are only set after you give consent via our cookie banner. You can withdraw consent at any time through the cookie settings, and you can opt out of Google Analytics across all websites using Google’s browser add-on: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

Newsletter

If you sign up for our newsletter, we collect your email address (and your name, if you provide it) so we can send you updates and offers. We send the newsletter only after you have opted in.

Every newsletter includes an unsubscribe link, and you can opt out at any time. We keep your email address on our mailing list until you unsubscribe, after which it is removed.

Note: if you send the newsletter through a third-party provider (e.g. Mailchimp, MailerLite, Brevo), name them here and link to their privacy policy, since your subscribers’ data is processed by that provider.

Webshop orders

When you place an order, we collect the information needed to process and deliver it: your name, billing and shipping address, email address, phone number (if provided), the products you ordered, and the details of your order.

Payment information is handled by our payment provider. We do not store your full card or bank details on our own servers; these are processed securely by the payment provider so we can complete your transaction.

We use this order data to process your purchase, arrange delivery, handle returns or support requests, and meet our legal and tax obligations.

Note: name your payment provider (e.g. Mollie, Stripe, PayPal) and shipping/fulfillment partner here, with links to their privacy policies, since they process your customers’ data on your behalf.

Cookies

We use a small number of cookies:

  • Analytics cookies (Google Analytics), set only after you consent via the cookie banner, as described above.
  • Functional webshop cookies, which keep your shopping cart and session working while you browse and check out. These are necessary for the shop to function and contain no marketing data.

Who we share your data with

We share data only with the providers we need to run the site and fulfil your orders:

  • Google, as our analytics provider (see Analytics above).
  • Our payment provider, to process your payments securely.
  • Our shipping/fulfillment partner, to deliver your order.
  • Our newsletter provider (if applicable), to send our newsletter.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it with anyone beyond what is needed to provide our services and meet our legal obligations.

How long we retain your data

  • Order data is retained for as long as required to fulfil your order and to meet our legal and tax obligations. Under Dutch law, business and invoice records must be kept for 7 years, so order and payment records are retained for that period.
  • Newsletter data (your email address) is kept until you unsubscribe, after which it is removed from our mailing list.
  • Analytics data is retained according to the retention period set in Google Analytics.

What rights you have over your data

You have the right to request a copy of the personal data we hold about you, and to request that we correct or erase it. To exercise these rights, contact us at info@backtobase.tech.

Please note that we cannot erase data we are legally obliged to keep — for example, order and invoice records that fall under the 7-year tax retention requirement.

If you believe we have not handled your data properly, you have the right to file a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens).

Embedded content from other websites

Pages on this site may include embedded content (such as videos or product media). Embedded content from other websites behaves exactly as though you had visited that other website directly, and those websites may collect data about you, use cookies, and monitor your interaction with that content.
